Proaction vs. Geotab: Native Maintenance Tools and Managed Fleet Execution

Geotab and Proaction can work together. Geotab provides connected-vehicle information and native maintenance tools, including scheduling and work orders. Proaction adds fleet workflows and optional Fleet Programs through which its team coordinates selected operating work. A published Geotab Marketplace listing describes Proaction using odometer and usage data in operational tasks, maintenance documentation and reporting. Proaction on Geotab Marketplace

For a Geotab customer, the decision is whether native tools and existing staff already complete the work or whether additional coordination would help. A combined setup should preserve useful Geotab capabilities and give Proaction a specific operating responsibility. The listing establishes an integration; the exact fields, timing and any additional synchronization need to be confirmed for your deployment.

What Geotab already does for maintenance

MyGeotab supports maintenance schedules, reminders, diagnostics and work-order management. Its maintenance documentation describes turning upcoming service needs into work orders and keeping records of issues and completed work. It also includes maintenance-cost reporting. Proaction should therefore be evaluated against an existing maintenance workflow, not an assumption that telematics stops at alerts. Geotab maintenance

The available information depends on the selected plan and supported vehicle. Geotab's rate-plan matrix includes odometer and engine-hour data in both Base/GO Core and GO Plan, while engine-fault data is not included in Base/GO Core. Confirm the inputs required for your intended maintenance process. Geotab rate plans

Proaction vs. Geotab at a glance

Evaluation area Geotab Proaction
Primary scope Connected-vehicle information and fleet applications in MyGeotab Fleet operating workflows with optional execution through Fleet Programs
Maintenance Native scheduling, reminders and work orders; diagnostic scope varies by plan and vehicle Maintenance planning and service workflows connected to assets and other fleet operations
Operating responsibility Fleet teams and their chosen providers operate the workflow, with partner services depending on the arrangement An optional team coordinates selected shop, driver, approval and payment handoffs
Connection Marketplace integrations extend the platform Listed integration uses odometer/usage data for tasks, maintenance documentation and reporting
Hardware and pricing Current GO Core and GO Plan pages include hardware in subscription pricing; obtain the applicable quote Platform fee per asset per month, plus transaction-value fees for Fleet Programs
Buying decision Whether native tools and existing operating capacity meet the fleet's needs Which additional fleet workflows and provider responsibilities to delegate

Geotab entries summarize the linked official sources. A shared feature name does not establish identical functionality, and a marketplace listing does not establish every possible data connection.

From a mileage reading to a completed service visit

Consider an illustrative vehicle approaching a maintenance interval. The mileage reading helps identify the need, but someone must arrange service, coordinate the driver, handle any estimate changes and make sure the repair is recorded and paid.

For delegated maintenance, Proaction can coordinate the provider and driver, review the estimate and warranty coverage, bring decisions to the fleet under its approval rules, follow repair progress, validate the invoice and arrange payment. The fleet decides which responsibilities to retain. Proaction maintenance and repair

Proaction's platform keeps maintenance connected to broader asset operations. If the vehicle also needs transport, registration or another selected program, the demonstration should show how that work is assigned and followed through. A useful pilot measures whether the agreed responsibilities are completed and which manual follow-ups remain.

Current Geotab plans and total cost

Geotab's current package page presents GO Core and GO Plan. It states that hardware is included in both subscriptions, without an upfront device cost or installation fee. Pricing is obtained through a quote. Confirm the plan, region, configuration and any partner services rather than assuming every deployment uses an older device-purchase model. Geotab software packages

Existing accounts may have legacy plans. Name the actual plan in the comparison, identify the data and applications included, and obtain any migration terms. Evaluate the native tools already paid for before adding overlapping software. Keep subscription and integration costs separate from shop labor, parts and the time people spend coordinating work.

Proaction pricing and provider choice

Proaction charges a platform fee per asset per month. Across Fleet Programs, its fee is calculated on transaction value. The proposal specifies the rate and calculation basis, and each transaction separates the underlying service payment from Proaction's fee. Proaction pricing

Expected monthly program spend is estimated together and prepaid. Spending above that amount is invoiced; unused credits carry into the next month. Include that funding requirement when evaluating total operating cost.

Proaction can coordinate a U.S. shop that can service the asset and accept payment, including a new provider. Use your fleet's negotiated rate where available; otherwise the provider's standard rate applies. There is no additional out-of-network surcharge. The normal Fleet Program fee still applies.

Frequently asked questions

Does Proaction integrate with Geotab?

Yes. Geotab Marketplace lists Proaction and describes odometer and usage data supporting tasks, maintenance documentation and reporting. The listing includes the United States and Canada; confirm implementation and managed-service geography separately. Marketplace listing

Does Geotab already have maintenance work orders?

Yes. Geotab documents native work orders and maintenance scheduling. If your employees and providers already run those workflows effectively, additional software or execution should address a specific remaining need. Geotab maintenance

Will work orders and invoices synchronize automatically?

The published listing does not establish every work-order or invoice flow. Before relying on synchronization, confirm the records involved, update direction, timing and responsibility for exceptions. Proaction integrations

What should a Geotab–Proaction pilot demonstrate?

Follow selected vehicles through a service cycle. Show the incoming reading, the resulting maintenance task, the assigned coordinator, the fleet's approval and the completed repair record. Check what happens when a reading is stale or a vehicle cannot attend its appointment.

Can we keep our existing shops?

Yes, for a U.S. shop that can service the asset and accept payment. Define provider preferences and approval rules at setup, including when Proaction should ask the fleet before selecting another shop.

Explore Proaction for your Geotab-equipped fleet. Bring one service trigger and the steps your team currently performs after it. You can also compare the combined approach in Proaction vs. Verizon Connect Reveal or explore Fleet Programs.
