Whip Around and Proaction both connect driver-reported defects to maintenance work. Whip Around is worth evaluating when your priority is consistent inspections and a repair workflow managed by your own team. Proaction is worth evaluating when you also want to delegate selected shop appointments, driver communication, estimate follow-up and payment, alongside other fleet programs.
The decision starts with the bottleneck: capturing the issue, managing the repair or finding someone to coordinate the outside work. Whip Around supports maintenance completion as well as inspections; Proaction's additional proposition is a team that can perform agreed coordination tasks. Decide what happens after the driver reports a problem
Consider a landscaping crew that finds a defect before leaving the yard. The report needs to identify the asset, driver, location and concern, with photos that help the next person act. In Proaction, configured forms and routing can send the report into a service workflow or to the fleet's review queue. The fleet defines the approval rules and responsibilities.
Your mechanics can keep internal repairs, using work orders, labor tracking and parts inventory. For a repair you delegate, Proaction can arrange the appointment, coordinate diagnosis, follow progress, bring approvals to the fleet, check the invoice and arrange payment. Driver updates provide service status and pickup guidance.
Whip Around also supports assigning defects and work orders to internal mechanics, external mechanics and vendors. Its maintenance workflow includes digital closeout and mechanic sign-off. If your team can perform the coordination, evaluate whether that workflow solves the problem. If the same repairs still require repeated calls to drivers and outside shops, identify the responsibilities you want Proaction to take over. Whip Around maintenance.
The fleet may need more than defect repair. Proaction also connects asset records with registration, claims, transports, recalls and other lifecycle work. Map those needs separately so broader program requirements do not obscure the inspection experience your drivers will use every day. Proaction platform.
What does Whip Around cost?
Whip Around's FAQ reviewed September 9, 2026 lists Basic as free, Standard starting at $5 per asset per month, Pro starting at $9, and custom FixedUnlimited pricing. These are starting prices, not a quote for your asset mix. A mixed fleet should compare the same roster in both proposals: trucks, trailers, machinery and smaller equipment. Ask how each vendor treats inactive, seasonal and newly acquired assets. Whip Around's FAQ describes support for equipment and other physical assets as well as vehicles, so vehicle count alone may not capture your requirements.
Separate routine onboarding from any scoped consulting, custom integration or development work. Whip Around documents these services but does not give a universal price on the page reviewed. Professional services.
How Proaction pricing works
Proaction charges a per-asset monthly platform fee. Fleet Programs carry a fee calculated on transaction value; your proposal specifies the rate and calculation basis. Each transaction separately shows the service payment and Proaction fee. Proaction pricing.
You can use a preferred U.S. shop or ask Proaction to coordinate one, provided it can service the asset and accept payment. Bring negotiated rates where available; otherwise, the shop's standard rate applies. Proaction adds no out-of-network surcharge, but the applicable Fleet Program fee still applies.
Expected monthly program spend is estimated together and prepaid each month. Overages are invoiced and unused credits carry into the next month. Include this funding arrangement when comparing proposals.
